The Indigenous Centre for Innovative Research Alliance (ICIRA) is a Tanzanian non-profit educational organization led and managed by Indigenous peoples. It integrates the traditional knowledge and practices of Indigenous Peoples, particularly those of the Maasai pastoral society, with innovative approaches to address their needs. ICIRA empowers communities and influences national and international policies by safeguarding Indigenous traditions, culture, and customary rights to land and natural resources. ICIRA’s programmes prioritize the preservation of identity, traditions, and land security while enhancing living conditions. The organization is committed to the belief that Indigenous Peoples, with their deep understanding of local contexts, can effectively collaborate with research partners to drive just and sustainable societal change.
